My name is Dr. Tim Strait. My mission is to provide discreet, specialized psychotherapy tailored for men aged 17 and older. I believe in fostering an affirming, supportive environment where clients can explore their mental health goals and achieve personal growth.

About Me
As a husband, a father, a professor of clinical mental health counseling, and an active clinician, I use authenticity, intuition, experience, and compassion as my primary tools to guide you to the change you want. I harness scientifically supported neuropsychology-based methods for improving mental health and pursuing wellness. Our working relationship will always start with forming a genuine, trusting foundation based on your lived experiences. My job will be to carefully listen to you and understand you. After that, our work will focus on defining what you think is helpful. I’ll offer suggestions and feedback, but the direction, depth, and pace of therapy will always be up to you.
My Journey
As part of my doctoral program, I chose a practicum and internship site at an agency that served people--including men and boys-- who survived physical and sexual abuse. The stories were often horrific, but the experience solidified my development as a clinician in every way imaginable. It also revealed to me that there was a profound void in the clinical research and literature regarding how to address men's mental health needs. What worked very well for women often did not translate into actionable treatment strategies for men. So I decided to do something about that by focusing my doctoral work to fill that void. Through the years, I have been humble and proud to assist men from every walk of life as they navigate their lived experience, discover how it impacts their life, and guide their healing.
How I Work
My practice is 100% online because research shows that men actually prefer online psychotherapy, so it is a perfect way to facilitate my clinical work and my mission. I tend to operate best using a multimodal approach focusing on techniques that are action-oriented and which you can put to use almost at once. My approach will always address issues in a way that makes sense to you. I look forward to getting to know you and working with you to meet your goals .
